The Miami County Homeschool Co-op is an active members only co-op for Miami County, KS (or in driving distance of) homeschoolers.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Miami County Homeschool Co-op! We trust that you will find this group to be welcoming, engaging, and enriching to your homeschool journey. Homeschooling is done best in community and that is why the Miami County Homeschool Co-op is on a mission to intentionally create community among Miami County homeschoolers. 

What sets Miami County Homeschool Co-op apart?

  • We are the only local co-op who's primary focus is on creating community through fellowship.

  • We are the only local Charlotte Mason influenced co-op.

  • We are an enrichment co-op. We aspire to be the seasoning to your meat and potatoes. We will not replace your well thought out curriculum or send home homework. 

  • We are inclusive. However, we are a Christian Co-op. 

  • We offer classes, field trips, educational events, park days, swim days, mom's night outs, family night, seasonal parties, and more!

What are the requirements of membership?   

  • Agree to mission and vision statements.

  • Pay a yearly member fee through the Co-op website.

  • Complete the online registration form.

  • Be an active member on a team serving at least once per term. 

  • Attend at least one activity or event per term.

  • Be actively engaged in homeschooling with at least one child in grades K-12 and are in compliance with your states homeschooling laws.

Our Mission

The Miami County Homeschool Co-op exists to give homeschooling families the opportunity and structure to bless one another with their gifts and talents, to serve one another in love, to encourage and uplift each other through fellowship, and to live in relationship with the intention of creating community.

Our Vision

The vision of the Miami County Homeschool Co-op is to be a blessing to fellow homeschoolers, to offer an outlet to love and serve your neighbor, and to intentionally create community.

The Invitation

The Miami County Homeschool Co-op would like to invite you to partner with us to build up this Co-op not just for the here and now, but for future generations, and in doing so, also building up our community. We invite you to be purposeful about attending events offered to homeschoolers and to be concerned with us about our impact on our community. We invite you to partner with us to be a witness for homeschooling in Miami County.

Join an active community of homeschooling families!

The Dedication

We ask that you dedicate yourself to contributing to the Miami County Homeschool Co-op from your gifts and passions with an attitude of service and diligence.

We ask that you believe in the vision and are dedicated to helping the Miami County Homeschool Co-op succeed in achieving the mission of being a blessing and encouragement to each other and to our community through service and love.

We ask that you contribute to the creation of community among the Miami County Homeschool Co-op members by participating in events, activities, field trips, parties, mom’s night outs, and/or community days.

We ask that you contribute to the creation of community among the Miami County Homeschool Co-op members by offering opportunities or serving at events, activities, field trips, parties, mom’s night outs, and/or community days.

We ask that you remember this is a Co-op and it is required to cooperate.

We ask that you agree to not be easily offended and to not intentionally be offensive.

Active Membership Requirements:

  • Agree to the mission and vision statement

  • Pay a $10 yearly membership fee

  • Complete the registration form

  • Volunteer at least one time per term

  • Attend at least one event or activity per term

  • Be actively engaged in homeschooling with at least one child in grades K-12 and are in compliance with Kansas homeschooling laws

The Structure

We are an inclusive Homeschooling Co-op for people that live in Miami County or in driving distance thereof. We do not require a statement of faith to join. However, we are a Christian Co-op. This Co-op was prayed over from the very beginning and founded on Christian principles. Miami County Homeschool Co-op was birthed from the desire to have a space to love our neighbors as ourselves with the end goal of creating community among homeschooling families in Miami County.

The Miami County Homeschool Co-op year is broken down into terms:

  • Fall Term: October and November

  • Break: December

  • Winter Term: January and February

  • Break: March

  • Spring Term: April and May

  • Summer Term: June through September

Community Days: This is when we get together for classes. They are held on the 1st, 3rd, and sometimes 5th Thursday of the month from 11:00 - 2:30 pm. We have Community Days during Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms. Christina Wilson and Chelsi Ditmars- Slater are the contacts for Community Day.

Swim Days: These will be held in the Summer and Winter Terms once per month. Kendall Dent is the contact for Fellowship Events.

Park Days: These will be held in the Fall and Spring Terms once per month. Kendall Dent is the contact for Park Day Events.

Seasonal Parties: These will be held once per Term. Kendall Dent is the contact for Fellowship Events.

 

Mom’s Night Out: These will be held once per Term with the exception of the Summer Term, which we will have 2 Mom’s Night Outs. Kendall Dent is the contact for Fellowship Events.

Field Trips: These will be held once per Term with the exception of the Summer Term, which we will have 2 Field Trips during that Term. Kendall Dent is the contact for Educational Events.

Educational Events and Activities: These will be held as opportunities come up. Kendall Dent is the contact for Educational Events and Activities.

Age Breakdowns: We use a Level System to describe age appropriateness of activities.

  • Toddler: 1-3

  • Level 1: 4-6

  • Level 2: 7-9

  • Level 3: 10-12

  • Level 4: 13-18

Care: We care about our members and truly want to be your community. We want to pray for you, but we want to do more than that. Please let us know when and how we can help you.
